The unit is nice for the price but I would have liked to see an ONKYO " INTEGRA" line quality. The tape counter seems to count in seconds and this is not very standard for these systems.
We are now trying to deal with a service center in another state and are out money for shipping on a brand new unit. One would not expect a basic tape deck to not be able to play or record cassettes, but it appears to be a fairly common problem with a sensor in the unit. Poor experience with Onkyo. This deck was purchased for a general music classroom. It did not work out of the box but unfortunately was past the 30 day period when it was tested out.
I love tapes. I love that thing. O YES. Would recommend. A bit noisy when the tape stops or gets to the end and going backwards but that sound. Combined with Onkyo TX-SR606.
I can still use Deck B to play. Tape Deck A does not work any more. With this kind of quality I am not buying another Onkyo product any time soon. I bought this deck to replace my old Sony deck that died after 17 years. The Onkyo TA-RW255 I have is barely beyond the warranty period of 1 year and it is already showing problems.
Enough said. Second unit worked for about two months and then A deck went again. Got this unit from Vann's and A deck (play, not record deck)stopped working after about three weeks. Vann's (great place) replaced it.
